It's Christmas eve!
Merry Christmas!

The sem break is nearing the end too.. cors bidding begins 28 Dec, and I am really apprehensive and worried about the oncoming sem. I still have 3 more core modules to do and then there's the thesis to write and poster presentation .. lab hasn't been superb either... and i still have the intention to try and find some work, so that at least i have some cash input instead of just output, even if it has to continue run on a deficit.
time flies in a way it's scary.
last saturday, i attended my cousin's wedding at the church and dinner. it has been years since the last time we ever saw them..more than 5 years i think, such that my aunt couldn't even recognise us.
i regret spending money on getting ready for tt event.. but then it has been years since i last wore a dress.. hmm.. about 4 years? i will cherish those moments.. and at the same time rmbr that pants are still more comfortable.
i hope that today will be a good day and tmr will be a joyous christmas day...
2011 is nearing too. people change, things change, surroundings and circumstances change. soon there'll be new and big shopping centres at jurong east and bouna vista.. and more buildings etc.. singapore is so full of them, i'm suprised they still managed to sorta restructure and find 'more' space with the same space.
some people move onwards and forward to another stage of life with different people. some friends forget some friends, some friends move on without some friends. good friends will move on but somehow be there? i dunno really.. after feeling 'ditched' so many times by friends who have simply moved on to the next stage of their lives. but once and twice etc being so upset has taught me to look on and 'move on' with my own. I convinced myself that I cannot forgive them cos there's nothing to forgive, cos they have done nothing wrong, they've simply gone on with their lives and I can give them my best wishes or I can not, cos it won't make a difference at all since it is their own lives and they do not have to be bothered about anything else they deem not as important. i pondered over the term 'forever friends' and doubted its authenticity and realised that it does not apply to all friends. but i realise at the same time, that i have to acknowledge and be grateful for those who have and still are sticking around. also, I will rmbr, probably always, those times that those friends who went an extra mile (all i thought) to help or be a friend to me, even as they have moved on and might not even rmbr or care if i do rmbr. i thank you all. for being there, once.
this break, i've been trying to make use of little times i have here and there... been doing my usual reading watching tv and drama etc.
2 books I have read this hols-

依然范特西歌词小说集
nope! don't be mistaken! it is not a book on jay chou. it is a book of short stories written with inspiration from the lyrics of his songs. but then the stories are all romance.. with a lot of various diff creative aspects in them = different contexts, era, countries etc... which is kinda cool. it is quite an easy read (i'm not saying the words, cos i admit i did stumble over some of the chinese words), i'm referring to them being short stories such that i dun have to tie myself down with the book and refuse to put it down till i read everything. some of the stories are quite touching.. two brought tears to my eyes, a few of them had weird and confusing storylines.. but overall i rate the book probably 3.8 out of 5 stars.
2nd book: Veronika Decides to Die

it is actually the second time i've read the book, but i think the first time, i was simply caught up with the story, unlike this second time when i read it again. my sis was like O.O NOO don't tell me about paulo coelho. truthfully, I didn't like his books at all at first. however, i was glad to read this book again. cos it brought me a different insight to what i have read and also made me learn some stuff, it felt like it was the first time reading it, actually.
it's about a girl who attempted suicide for a simple reason of not having any reason for living anymore and tired of the cycle of life, and ended up in a mental hospital having survived it. but smth different about this mental hospital, is that there are people who are healthy and not mentally unstable or already recovered, but still stayed there because they choose not return to the society, viewing that the hospital allows them to do almost anything they like since they are deemed as mentally unstable, or shall we term that as 'escaping reality'? because reality in itself, is one repetitive cycle, any deviants will be ostracized (mostly) especially in a culture whereby people pursue the 'papers' and 5 Cs, or simply in the reality filled of selective pressure, where you be the fittest to survive, or simply join in the crowd kinda like an office worker. some of them are deemed as mentally unstable, or find themselves become mentally unstable, when they realize that they actually want to do something out of their mainstream lives. like being a superb lawyer for decades and then suddenly thought of going poor countries and do first aid kinda, or coming from a lineage of doctors but decide to become an artist..? of course, the book encourages people to discover new meaning in life - which includes the courage to pursue what they really want etc. one interesting part of the story is how the author linked the story throughout with the doctor doing a research paper on a certain drug, with us thinking that the drug is supposed to help cure mental illnesses (or not, cos he was portrayed like a 'mad scientist' kinda)and the drug was actually the girl's realization that she still wanted to fight to live when she was told to be left of 5 days of life, which results in positively affecting the other patients too.
the book reminded me of "Matrix trilogy", but not as much of the zion and machine city etc... it reminded me of the numerous things that i want to do but always am halfway through, neither here nor there, because i myself am lacking in the skills department or perseverance department, or i thought to be simply 'not wanting it' as much as i thought. well the latter is more applicable like for movies and stories..? i have sorta accepted it though(or have i?) that i am lacking (or does that make me a loser for giving up already?).
my aunt was asking my sis for her opinion regarding giving our little cousin enrichment courses in swimming, ballet, piano, abacus etc etc. i was like wahhh that's a lot for such a young age, a kid should just enjoy life etc.. then i realised, i'd rather i was in such a situation even if i felt stressed about it. cos i'd rather have all these opportunities then none, until i can only regret when i'm this age.
sighs. enough grumbling.
shows i have been watching..
Rapunzel: a tangled tale

first 3D movie watched with sis, after my last exam, which didn't really feel like a 3D movie..but it was quite good, with much creativity inserted to evolve the fairy tale. i think i watched too many trailers before i went to see the movie though.. so they kinda became spoilers. I will always rmbr how they created the main guy of the story. haha. the women tearing up pictures of guys and piecing them together for their favourite. hahah
Despicable me

surprising. i like how the story turned out.. altho it could have been expected, but it wasn't expected for me, for this one.
been following these on drambeans:
1.Mary stayed out all night

which is sadly, a bit crappy..a waste of talents.
2. secret garden

read e first few recaps, watch a bit online, then got myself a bit lost cos i watched/read all in parts and got myself all confused.. which means it is actually a good show, cos you have to stick from the start to end to know the full story, which means it's not a crappy or cliche story whereby you can just hop in halfway and still understand what it is talking about. the acting is good, thumbs up. =) i will try to watch again..from head to toe, if i'm free... which is.. hmm .. possible or not?
lastly..
4. vampire diaires.

LOL. haha who wld have thought i'll be watching it. its not bad actually, (although i haven't watched season 1) i found their acting to be quite good! (at such young ages) damon to be quite cute and eleana to be quite pretty (erm ya and stephen too.. hahaha even tho he's the main guy, damon sorta won me over first hahha LOL)
i have missed a episodes of iryu3 and Guilty Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna, cos these days i came home feeling tired and dozed off before i settle down to watch them.
okies.. i'm going to end here now.. before that, please support me for the StartledCow design competition!

it is very late in the night, i realize.
sighs.
the exams are over about two weeks ago already..and I have just started to return to lab last week.. and let's just say, it hasn't yet to be any silver lining yet.
today i didn't go to lab, cos i was really busy doing other things. so busy that until now i still haven't managed to type out the protocol i'm supposed to have already typed out, check out the areas that i am doubtful of and email the prof.
sighs. which is quite horrid, cos i dun want it to reflect badly on me.
anyways... yup. what i have been busy doing?
revamping this blog!! =D
actually it's not much, just a new look with new pictures and new background, and that already took me very long.. finding and looking for pictures, editing them, putting them together, then upload, edit template etc.. choosing the background took me very long too, i even took print screens of the blog with various backgrounds and got my sis and mum to vote.
the other thing that i have been working on (when honestly, i should have been working out the protocol) is designing for the design competition at startled cow. I have come up with three designs, and that took me a lot of time too - brainstorming, researching, drafting, editing, drawing, coloring, then trying to make it more solid by using photoshop...it would have been a lot easier with a drawing tablet, but then it is so expensive. sighs.
anyways, do support me!!!
Go to the following Design Contest event page, Click
Link to go there,
Click "Attending" then look for my designs under the event wall or photos, and click 'Like'!
The winning design would be the one with most 'likes' and voting is until 3rd Jan 2011.
Yup.
it's getting really late now.. so i guess i'll end here for now..
more updates in future =)
